Michelle Bersell on Shattering Myths

March marks Women’s History Month, and it feels more pertinent than ever to challenge the falsehoods that have long undermined women. When anyone is systematically put down or provided persistent misinformation, it results in harsh (and lasting) consequences. And at the same time, those negative repercussions ricochet back to those who fed us those myths in the first place.

The blame game—a strategy to shirk emotional responsibility—is a prime example I witness all the time. While initially they feel a transient sense of relief by dodging accountability, their manipulation frequently comes back to haunt them.

In this month’s blog post, I delve into a colossal deception perpetrated against women—an insidious narrative that ultimately has had a tragic impact on individuals, businesses, and society at large.

It’s time we confront this deceptive narrative head-on and no longer ‘take the bait’.

Take a few moments to watch the video I’ve included below (or click here). If you feel compelled, I’d love to hear your thoughts on the lies we’ve been fed and how it has impacted you.

To establish equity, we must dismantle that which was created to deny, dismiss, and discredit another.  Thank you to each of you who are doing your part to consciously shape change for the good of all. Establishing true equality necessitates the dismantling of structures designed to deny, dismiss, undermine, and discredit others. I extend my heartfelt thanks to each of you who are consciously forging pathways toward a more equitable future for everyone.

Warmly,

Michelle Bersell

I’d like to give credit to the powerful address by Reshma Saujani, as it inspired my video.  While I’ve been talking about this lie with our emotions for decades, Reshma beautifully explains why she will no longer acknowledge imposter syndrome.  You can check out her incredibly inspiring speech here:  While I’ve been deconstructing emotional deceit for decades, Reshma beautifully explains why she will no longer acknowledge ‘imposter syndrome.’ Take a moment to check out her incredibly inspiring speech here
