Letting Go of Being Liked

story2-title
REJECTION for the emotionally sensitive person can feel like you are being stabbed in the heart.

Here’s the real reason why….

When you so deeply desire the approval of others, whether it is to affirm your talent, or being good enough, or liked, unconsciously, you lose yourself. You twist yourself into becoming what you think others want. And that is when the true rejection of self occurs, (for many people over and over and over again).

Living that way STINKS!

I know because I did it far too long, which meant inhibiting my true thoughts, beliefs, and feelings. When you inhibit yourself, it makes sense that success won’t happen.

The truth is whether people like you or not is none of your business.

If someone doesn’t like you, it tells you more about them, than you. They’re the one judging and critiquing.

Your choice can be boiled down to two options:

1. Jump through the other person’s hoops, sometimes over and over again, (like a show dog) to try to demonstrate to them that you can meet up to their standards

2. Define your own standards and values and live up to them each day as best you can.

Option 1 will feel like you are living your life hitting your head against a wall. Option 2 will mean you live your life in a way that feels good to you and let others do the same. If it isn’t a fit for each other, it’s nothing personal. You simply aren’t a fit.

In order to be successful, you must liberate yourself from being liked and choose instead to like yourself by honoring you!
